The Eardley, Worthing

The Eardley is an elegant collection of luxury apartments situated on the beachfront in Worthing. As with many properties in such an exposed coastal location, the building benefits from regular external maintenance to keep it looking its best and to protect the fabric of the structure against the demands of the sea air.

PH Beck was appointed to work alongside BLB Surveyors to deliver a programme of external redecoration and associated repair works to this six storey block of flats. The project required careful planning and a sensitive approach throughout, as all of the apartments remained fully occupied for the duration of the works.

The scope of works included:

• Erection of scaffolding around the building to provide safe working access to all elevations
• Careful removal of the existing glass balustrading to the top floor balconies, set aside for refixing on completion of the decoration works
• Preparation of the wall surfaces across all elevations, including crack repairs to the existing render
• Full external redecoration to all elevations, including soffits, mouldings, balcony parapets, railings and doors, using maximum exposure Weathershield external paint for long term durability
• A complete clean to all existing windows, doors and associated frames to finish the scheme

As the apartments remained occupied throughout the programme, our team confined operations and personnel strictly to the areas under works, ensuring disturbance to residents was kept to an absolute minimum. Services to all flats were maintained at all times, and full protection measures were put in place to safeguard the occupied apartments, balconies and personal belongings of residents during the course of the project.
The completed works have restored and enhanced the external appearance of The Eardley, providing a high quality finish in keeping with the standing of the building and its prominent position on the Worthing seafront.
